Hybrid Vespa in the works at Piaggio |
 Vintage Technology guide RetroThing.com breaks news of an interesting development over at Piaggio. The prototype HyS hybrid gasoline/electric Vespa is currently being tested in Milan.
Based on the Vespa LX 50 (50cc gas & 1000W electric motor) and the more powerful Piaggio X8 125 (125cc gas & 2500W electic motor), the combination of electric and gas engines provides roughly 25% more power, while helping to alleviate fuel consumption when starting or accelerating. It also reduces gasoline consumption by 20%.
